MASTER JOE PETERSEN

“The Phenomenal Boy Singer…….. And Legendary Scottish Variety and Recording Star”

A Tragic Story of Stardom, Romance, Mystery & Heartache - The best kept secret of Show Business in the 1930's and 40s!'

Written by Frank Wappat – BBC North Here is the story of a young singer who would have outshone all the later stars such as Edith Piaf. It has never been told before, because her true identity was kept a tightly guarded secret. Collective millions of gramophone records were sold of her 59 discs.

But the public never knew the:
• Secret
• Romance
• Love
• Heartache

The body of Master Joe Petersen lay in an unmarked grave in a Glasgow Cemetery.

Authors comment: My research for this book took me to opposite ends of the country, and i met many people who knew and loved Master Joe - The book won for me a much coveted Radio Industry SONY Award for my investigative Journalism.

For me the greatest reward for all of my work came the following year - I visited the grave on a couple of occasions. The owner of Lismore Records, a Glasgow Music Company, paid for and funded the erection of a headstone. "Master Joe Petersen"
